La lista de libros censurados por Sarah Palin

Mié, 10/09/2008 - 23:40 — docuweb Hoy leyendo El País me he enterado de que la candidata a vicepresidenta por el Partido Republicano de los Estados Unidos, Sarah Palin, quiso censurar una serie de libros que le parecían ofensivos, de la biblioteca pública de sus ciudad (Wasilla), cuando era alcaldesa de ésta (1996). La bibliotecaria Mary Ellen Emmons se negó rotundamente a cualquier tipo de censura y fué despedida meses más tarde.
Esta lista aparece publicada en Librarian.net, y aunque algunos libros no concuerdan con los hechos, por su fecha de publicación (Harry Potter), posiblemente se acercaba bastante a la que se le ocurrió en su momento a esta retrógrada señora:

¿James y el melocotón gigante? ¡¡Pero si es un cuento infantil!! Claro, supongo que es porque habla de tolerancia y de la fuerza de la imaginación... Esta mujer no sabe lo que es una metáfora.
Y Flores para Algernon es uno de los relatos más hermosos de ciencia-ficción que se han escrito nunca. Este habla de discriminación, primero por culpa de la poca inteligencia del protaginista y al final por la mucha que consigue.

Esto me hace dudar de la veracidad de lo comentado. Aunque habiendo leído lo que he leído de esta señora y de su protector, pues no me extrañaría mucho.

[edito] Al parecer sí que es posible que la lista sea auténtica, puesto que el primer Harry Potter fue publicado en 1997 y Palin fue alcaldesa desde 1996 hasta 2002. La mencionada bibliotecaria fue cesada en 1999.

ps si, hay acabo de ver en las noticias de mi país esta misma información, aunque es verdad que los de harry po-poter no concuerdan con la fecha de publicación, es cierto que es una maldita ignorante, disculpen, pero me da rabia que existan personas así, acá en medellín paso'algo parecido, en una Universidad pública decidieron quemar libros de hechiceria y de literatura agnostica, que por que causaban no se que cosas en la cabeza de quien los leia, me parece que cada quien elige lo que quiere ser o lo que quiere ver o leer, a decir verdad es por esto que me pongo de malas pulgas.
