Scheduled for Q2 2007
This will be an intermediate release to enable us to deliver some parts of the accomplished work before the v3.0 release. It represents the new project strategy that's intended to shorten the release cycle and provide releases more often. This version includes:
- Triggers for attach/detach and transaction operations
- Compatibility between TEXT BLOB and [VAR]CHAR
- Usage of domains in PSQL
- Database runtime monitoring
- Asynchronous statement cancellation
- MERGE and conditional UPDATE/INSERT statements
- Global temporary tables
- Common table expressions and recursive queries
- Win64 port
- Many bugfixes
Release 3.0
Scheduled for Q4 2007
The major goal of this version is to provide a fine-grained multi-threading in the SuperServer architecture, as well as some other features implemented in the Vulcan branch. You may also expect in this release:
- Embedded user account storage
- User account maintenance via SQL
- External procedures (in Java and other languages)
- SQL functions
- External data sources and cross-database queries
- Database encryption
- SQL tracing/logging
- Optimizer improvements
